I received my collar quickly . It was easy to set up. I am very happy with this product and it's performance. However I do with the remote had a clip to attach to pants or something. Otherwise perfect!
This product really works well. I really like the illuminated remote, the fact that both the remote and collar are rechargeable and the ease of use of both. I have not been able to test the 600 yard range yet but it does work great at 100 yards. If you have a dog that needs a trainer, this is the one to buy!!
The remote trainer does exactly what it is supposed to do. It has three types of training - tone, vibration and static. You can train your pet using any of them. You can charge the collar and remote at the same time using one charger.
I really like that it is adjustable with a clip closure. This makes it quick to put on and take off. I love the vibrate feature. I haven't had a collar with that before. My dogs are both collar trained and I like that I don't have to use stimulation if they need more than the tone to get their attention. Good range. Overall a great remote trainer!
It is well constructed and has multiple features. I love that the 3 training levels can be triggered from the remote. It took no time for my dog to understand that the tome was what he wanted to listen to to avoid the vibration and the shock. It allows very fast training and makes it stress free! I love that it is waterproof and would highly recommend it for anyone trying to train their dog.
I was able to set this up with no issues. Its great quality and works well with training my dog. The collar and remote are well made and do not feel cheap like other products. My dog hears the noise and returns no issues.Would recommend this product to anyone trying to train a puppy/dog.
Loved this remote control trainer! We have been using an older model and this one feels so high tech!! My favorite thing about it is the option to have 2 dogs on the same controller! My second favorite thing is that it is rechargeable! No more dead collars, remotes or wasting $$ on batteries! Dogs were very responsive to it-one just needs to hear the sound, while the other gets a little more distracted and needs something more! 3 different settings give a nice variety to choose from! An extra “feature” that I wouldn’t have thought of is the shape/size of the controller-it was really designed with the user in mind! It is a little high tech at first, but very easy to learn!
I've been using this for about 2 months now and absolutely love it! I have 2 dogs and they can both use this system using the same controller, you'd just need an extra collar. I already had them both trained using PetSafes in ground fence system so they had a big head start in training them with this remote trainer. After the first day I was able to just use the tone/vibration setting to get them to come back to me.
The furthest I had them out was about 450 yards and it worked great with 150 more yards to spare. I take my dogs everywhere with me and like to let them off leash when we go hiking or fishing at the lake. The collar is completely waterproof and I had no issues with them after being submerged. While I myself don't hunt, this system would be fantastic for hunting/recall training as well.
You can charge the collar and receiver at the same time, or if you have 2 collars you can charge both of them at one time too. The system itself is incredibly easy to use with all dedicated buttons for audio tone, vibration, and shock. Switching between dogs or changing the intensity is just a push of a button. The display is a great size and easy to read both in the daytime and at night with the back lighting.
If you like to take your dog to the park, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, or any other activity I would highly recommend giving this setup a try. It doesn't take long at all to get your dogs trained--just be patient and rewarding! In the end it's completely worth the investment.
We placed the sensor on our dog and immediately she began walking in a more controlled manner. We used the static que only a few times and she then responded to just using the tone only. We let her play off leash now without a worry of her chasing a rabbit, or running over to other dogs and people without our OK. I also now take her out hiking without a leash and she stays close and returns to us immediately with just a push of a button and the use of a tone. . This is a great product for any responsible dog owner.
We have a German Shepherd who becomes so intent on a smell or a sound when we are outside, that he acts as if he doesn't even know his own name! The remote trainer has given me the opportunity to keep his attention. We can now be outside and off the leash and I do not have to worry about him "forgetting" to listen to me!
I bought this collar a couple months ago. The new waterproof collar is awesome! The new sleek remote is easy to use. Both are rugged and hold up very well to my mastiffs! Love this product!!!! I highly recommend it!
I've been loving getting to know and use this training collar. I have a one year old Golden Retriever who listens fairly well but occasionally loses focus and tends to bolt (to birds, squirrels, great smells, etc. and I needed something to snap his attention back to me. This collar so far has been excellent for that. I LOVE how many settings it has. So far, I've been lucky enough to only have to use the tone - it's just enough to snap him out of his focus (or lack there of ;-) ) and listen to me. I enjoy that it allows for vibration before static as well.
The collar itself is very adjustable. I love that it's waterproof. 600 yards is great too, we have several acres and it gives me peace of mind that even if my boy makes it further than usual, I can still reach him.
My only personal downside is the remote buttons. They're fairly hard to press with my arthritic hands. I understand they shouldn't be too easy so as to not accidentally be depressed when not meaning to. Not a deal breaker at all - again, just my own downside.
I really like that I can charge the remote and collar at the same time with the charger. So far the charge has lasted longer than expected too.
All in all, a great tool for your training toolbox!
This PetSafe Remote Trainer has been a great tool in the obedience training with my German Shepherd. I live on a small farm and the Remote Trainer allows me to get my pets attention when he wants to wonder off or chases some my livestock. The 600 yard range is what I’ve been looking it allows me to give commands and backup with a reminder if my Shepherd doesn’t respond to my verbal commands. I wish the unit had a adjustable range for the Tone and Vibration mode. The Tone mode has two uses one is to get my pets attention but if it was able to be increased the tone this would make it so the the owner could locate their pets location by the sound Tone. The vibration mode works but would be a better mode if the vibration could be adjusted up or down like the Static mode. I’m very pleased with my Trainer and recommend this to anyone who needs a device that will aid in their pets training.
I have a much older remote trainer, that is showing it's age. This one is a great improvement! The range is excellent. I live on 7 acres so the range distance is very helpful. The collar is lighter then my old version and seems like it's more comfortable. The remote is also a more comfortable shape. My old remote had static and tone, this one has vibration as well which works great for one of my dogs. All in all I have 6 dogs, and this remote trainer comes in handy for all of them when a little reminder is needed. All in all a great improvement and very happy!
I have just started using this and my Golden Retriever has been puzzled when he hears the beep or feels the vibration. He is kind of stubborn so I might need to shock him a time or two. He adjusted to the invisible fence really well
The control was a bit confusing at the beginning as it is so much different than my other Pet Safe control. Once set -up though the vibrate and tone signals are very responsive. I appreciate that the highest (8) setting is locked out at setup so you don't over shock your dog. Unit is light on the dog's neck. A longer lanyard would be good but I used one from my old control.
My dog was professionally trained with a similar collar. This collar has allowed me to continue reinforcing all that he and I learned. I’ve been very happy with the collar and it gods the charge for days.
I really like the Remote Trainer. We have two Golden Retrievers they are both good listeners, however, when they are outside we do have trouble getting them back in because the love the outdoors especially our youngest. They are both familiar with the tone from the invisible fence so this was very easy to train them with. I mainly used the collar on our youngest Golden and now when I let him out I call him in and if he does not respond I use the tone and he then will come running in. I have not yet had to use the static or shock. I would highly recommend this product.
I have the 600 yard remote trainer. I recommend going online and watching YouTube videos or doing the live chat because the manual is very limited on explaining how to use this device. It was my first collar like this so learning it was frustrating but after the live chat I understood. The range is awesome my younger dog likes to play with dogs two houses down, we also have 15 acres so the dogs disappear out back frequently. Needless to say since learning how to use it I have not had to hunt her down in the mountains of snows out back and that’s just lovely. The two dog option is great and if we bring the dogs camping this year I will definitely try out that feature.
I bought this about a month ago to help train a blue tic beagle! It’s amazing!!! It really helps to redirect him when in house, normally just a beep does it! Took him to lake and he ran off use vibrate and then 3 ! He came running back to me! So glad! We will continue to train using it! Great product!
I bought this product for my senior dog who has lost her hearing as a way to communicate with her when she is far away. The shock is not an option, but I was very intrigued by the vibration feature. The collar charge easily and went on as excepted, the remote was easy to use. Unfortunately for my purposes, the vibration feature on the collar was not strong enough to get her attention. I would recommend this collar to someone wanting to use the shock or beep feature, but the vibration feature needs more juice.,
I am very pleased with this training collar. It comes with well written instructions. This system is simple and effective. My only hold back on giving 5 stars is the collar part itself. I did not like the new material it seems to not hold up as well as previous version. The overall system is great. I have used Petsafe products for many years.
When I got this remote trainer I looked over all the contents and read though the instruction just to still be confused on what the weird black shaped object was for (I now learned it’s called Test Light tool. I figured out what the other items where that were supplied like the extra rubber charging covers and the longer points (which I assumed were for longer hair dogs) but the instructions never said anything about how use the test light tool nor how to change the points (even though it’s kind of obvious, others may not know that the points are not permanently fixed). I liked the colors and the smoothness of the remote but wished that the buttons were more prominent or raised up so that I could feel them better instead of having to look at them. I’d maybe also would like the buttons to have some indication of what they are for, like T for tone, V/S for vibrate/static correction, the bottoms on the sides either up/down arrows for increase/decrease levels and the other side button to show 1 / 2 so that I know that would be the button to use to switch to the other collar. I eventually remembered/learned which button was which though. I LOVE that it’s rechargeable. Years ago I had a different one that required batteries and every time I turned around I had to buy new batteries. The charging cord is all in one. Plug it in and it splits farther down the cord so that you have a connector for the collar and another connector for the remote to be charged. I do wish the correction box itself was a little smaller for smaller dogs like my Pomeranians. I like the option of getting another collar for my other dog and using just the one remote. I read the instruction and put two fingers on the points and tried it myself so I know what it feels like. I tried the tone, vibration and turned it to 1 static correction, it was a little stronger than I thought it would be and surprised me so much so that I dropped it into the sink….so I guess I tested the waterproofness at the same time. It works! ;) I would really like the tone volume to be louder. I could hear it but I’ve had an older dog that couldn’t hear that well and wouldn’t have heard it. As I put it on one of my Pomeranians, she held still but I kept clicking her hair into the clasp. I know they have to make the collar that way in order to adjust it for any size dog but I might figure out how to switch it to an elastic band so I can just slip it over her head to put it on or take it off. She handed everything pretty well. She acted nervous to move around and do anything for quite some time. She eventually got use to having it on and even laid down to sleep with it. I used only the vibration at first and then used the static correction only when she was so excited that she didn’t feel the vibration. She now mostly always responds to the vibration unless the doorbell rings. I like this form of collar vs a static correction bark collar because unlike this one the bark collar gives the dog a static correction anytime she barks but I allow them to bark only when they are playing around and their playing around is so spontaneous that I would hate for her to have a bark collar on vs this one so I can tell her when it’s inappropriate to act a certain way, even though it is a pain sometimes when I’m working all over the house and forget to bring the remote with me. We have not had the chance to test the distance it can reach since it has been an average of -10 degrees with wind-chill so we haven’t been outside but for the few minutes it takes for them to go to the bathroom. In spring/summer I’m sure I’m going to love using this as we go for walks and such! I have an advantage when it comes to this collar….if the main dog doesn’t do it, the 2nd dog then doesn’t either. So if the lead dog doesn’t bark (because I corrected her with the collar) the 2nd dog doesn’t bark either. Following the leader sometimes is a good thing.
I used this product to try to keep my son's new puppy from going into the ditch at the road. Its still a work in progress but at this point he is staying in the yard. This product will work but only if you keep at it. He now knows that when he gets the collar on that he is going outside and when I show him the remote he tends to stay next to me. We will keep working with him as he is just a puppy and will learn. But so far this is working great.
I am so happy for the opportunity to use this product. My dog respond to the electric stimulation right away. Now she hears the tone with my commands and I don't have to use the electric stimulation. It is definitely something I should have tried sooner. It's nice to have the tone/stimuli option.
Simple to set up and get started. I really like the different settings for vibration, tone, and static. have been able to distract my dog from unwanted behavior. Will review again after a while to see if results are still good when the collar is removed.
I like the new Remote Trainer. I like that you can see the numbers clearly on the Handheld Remote. It takes a little getting used too if you have an "older" model. The buttons are on the top instead of in the middle. The second dog feature has to be switched on the side instead of having each dog feature on the front. I liked the older remote in regards to the 2 dog system. I feel that the Stimulation is a little bit stronger in this model. In the older model my dog was at a 11-13 and with this one he is good at 8-9.
We have had people in and out for the holidays and have found the trainer helpful in controlling our over-exuberant girl. A tap of the signal reminds her to be a little more lady-like. We can’t wait to get her outside, when the weather is better, for extended runs. We know it will be helpful as a reminder for her to return. Thanks for the opportunity to use and review this product.
I received the 600 yard remote trainer about 3 weeks ago, and it has become an effective tool for breaking my dog's bad behaviors. The collar features a test button to warn the dog of bad behaviors and a shock button. The test button signals a beep, much like the beep heard on all the other pet safe training products ( wireless fence/bark collars). The remote that operates the collar also has a second dog feature, that would allow you to put a collar on another dog and be controlled with the one remote. The collar is rechargeable, rather than having to replace batteries, however I found that mine has to be charged frequently. Other than that the collar/remote has done wonders helping break stubborn habits for my dogs, and I highly recommend it for other dog owners!
I got this product to replace an older model that I have had for years for a yellow lab. He is generally well behaved, it is just times he gets a little too excited and forgets to listen.
First off the fact that this has static and vibration built into one is awesome. I feel much better using the vibration only and my dog responds well to it. I like know the static feature is there for more of a back up.
The unit was very easy to set up and understand. The daily use is very simple, although I would like the buttons to be more pronounced, as I usually have the controller in my pocket.
Range has not be an issue at all, although I am generally close by so I can’t see that ever being an issues.
The only “cons” I have found so far are the strap for the collar seems a little flimsy and the “lanyard” for the controller could be longer.
Over all, I would absolutely recommend this product. As I said, I am using it for a yellow lab (he is 83 lbs. and have zero issues!
Product arrived in timely fashion and has been put to use. The collar and transmitter are an OK product but not superior. This is the third one I have owned. The transmitters only last 2-3 years; I now have 3 collars but only 1 functioning transmitter. It does what it is suppose to do which is keep the dog under control without using a physical lease. Just wished it lasted longer for the price of the product.
I am returning the unit and purchasing the Sport dog 425. I hunt with 2 dogs and the operation of the controller is almost impossible wearing gloves. This unit would be great for just training, but not hunting.
I have not had a chance to test the full range of the collar. Due to the extreme cold temps. But for the approx 150 yards i have, it works fine. The collar seems to be built very well and sealed nicely. The controller fits your hand nice, I do find it very hard to feel or clearly see the buttons for the tone and vibrate features. That is my only complaint. The unit in whole holds a charge for a long time and looks to be built well all the way around. I Would have rated the trainer much higher if the top buttons would be more pronounced to feel and sight.
I received the product and was very excited to try it out. It worked great the first day. My youngest Boxer needs correction for barking and jumping at everyone. The first day I only had to use the tone and she would stop misbehaving. But the next day it stopped working. I tried charging it again but still would not work. Remote piece works fine. The collar was the issue. I continued to push the on and off button and it finally started working again. But only for one more day. Then I was back to the same problem the next day. I really was excited to be able to finally train my Boxer to stop jumping and barking at people but unfortunately the collar just will not stay working. I will continue to try and work with it but at this point it is becoming a headache to deal with.
I find the remote buttons to be difficult to use. Turning the collar off is an exercise in frustration as it doesn't go off when I hear the requisite beeps; it does go off after the second "try". This model needs more frequent charging. In my mind it is a poor replacement for our original collar and remote.
