I bought this just 3 days ago from a vendor. Sure enough your directions WORK! I laid a trail of kibble to the machine, was patient & worked through it. If u wanted to bypass training- this is Not the way. It's just another way to train- fast is slow! She knows bed & stay Already. I had worked for weeks on that and Now she gets it. We are up to 2mins for "Bed. Stay." We will continue. After all, it's just repetition, repitition, etc. Now I wish I had Dr Yin's video.
We have been using this as an alternative to more expensive versions and we love it. We train and rehabilitate dogs and this tool gives us a larger toolkit.
Great tool and great fun
Do not listen to all the sooks below, if your dog is scared of the vibrate then this is not the tools fault, spend some time with your dog doing some desensitisation then bring them back to it,
In theory we really like this product and will be working with it more for our dog training courses. This product makes a very loud and noticeable buzzing/vibration when you press the button to dispense the treat. Our rescue dog is petrified of this device within the first 2 minutes. He won't come near it now and the treats do not interest him. Hoping over time he will become more conditioned to the device. It is consistent and dispenses on time. Sometimes 1 piece, sometime a couple more, but always something. I think quite a few dogs and people may not like the loud buzzing/vibration of the unit, but for those treat motivated pets, it won't matter a bit. I would recommend this product.
I am a Veterinary Behaviorist and was given a Treat and Praise to try out. I was excited because of the relatively low price point however I specifically recommend that my clients avoid this product. It was so noisy that one of my dogs was afraid of it. It also vibrated so much that it walked across the floor.
My other dog, weighing all of 15 pounds was able to knock it over, paw at it and open not only the compartment holding treats but also the motor housing.
Just received this in the mail, got it all set up, paired remote and added about 15-20 Cloud Star Crunchy Tricky Trainers (which measure about 3/8" diameter x 3/8" high, so they're under the recommended size limit of 1/2". The device worked well the first time I pushed the remote. Waited a bit and hit the remote a second time...the light flashed, beep sounded, motor worked but no treat. Third time, a treat came out. No treat dispensed on the next 4 remote pushes (with pauses in between). Dispensed on the 5th. No treat on the 6th. Waited a full minute, hit the button and no treat came out. Removed batteries, put in another set of new ones, paired remote again (just to be sure that was done correctly) and tried again. Same result! It refuses to dispense treats reliably, even with long pauses in between (which is the way it would be used in training). Could be damaging to +R training, as the reward would be inadvertently faded too soon. It's being returned to Petsafe today.
